Criminal Justice Reform

If Arkansas were a country, we would have the 6th highest incarceration rate in the world. Far too many people are being forced to stay in jail for nonviolent and petty crimes, awaiting trial simply because they cannot afford to post bail. This process unjustly separates families, causes job loss which ultimately leads to increased poverty, and violates our Fifth Amendment right to not be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law. Reforming our criminal justice system has to be a priority. As your State Representative, I will be a voice and an advocate for Arkansans who are arrested, given life-long police records, and in many cases forced to surrender years of their lives behind bars for victimless and nonviolent offenses.
